I've been struggling over this for a while now. The Shadows are very hard to write for with a number of the topics we've had. Representatives of vastly powerful ancient alien races don't talk about their flaws, for example. I don't really want to give them up, but I'm just not able to consistently answer the topics for them at the moment.
SO, I'm retiring them from theatrical_muse. They will still be around for RP in the B5 universe if they're needed, and if I have time. Their journal will be coming with me.
I would like to ask, since this version of JMS' Shadows is kind of my own creation (based on 'Out of the Shadows', a fic that I wrote... um. Nearly a decade ago...), that if someone else does want to write the Shadows for TM, they please don't make theirs quite like Bugs and Daffy. We're given so little info on the Shadows that it's really open to interpretation :)
Thanks!! It's been fun, and honestly, they may be back sometime in the future. I don't know...

| B7 at B5 |

Yo, hobsonphile! Are the B7 and B5 people going to do anything at Babylon 5? I don't mind it if it's slow (it would be good if it's slow; it makes it easier for people to take part). Or if it's too difficult, should the B7 lot get back to rebelling in Federation space?

This is a placeholder post for all B5 and B7 muns (and Starky *g*) who wish to discuss recent plot developments and their possible ramifications for the upcoming meeting. I volunteer to be the moderator, as I regularly lurk at b7_rpg and am thus familiar with the plot as it stands.

Hey guys,
I was convinced returning Morden to TM would be good, and I have to admit I did miss writing him, so he's back and I'm back with him.
So, what have I missed?

I'm quite new to Theatrical Muse, but I wonder if anybody else is aware of the weird alternate tm universe (aka the reason all the good names are taken). It's the scariest and funniest thing I've ever read. For your amusement, I'm going to post the best-of.
1. This post from Franklin's journal. I was rolling on the ground with this one. Sample quotes include Franklin screaming "Fuck you, Chief!" to Garibaldi and this exchange, which is my favourite ever:
FRANKLIN: Don't think that I didn't see you leering at Marcus' fine ass the other day! Bit hypocritical of you, eh?
NEROON: Marcus is one of the Rangers.
Great response...
And there's more there. Oh, so much more. Go read!
2. All of Neroon's journal. Poor boy, despite his obsessive attempts to get Franklin's attention, neither the good spacedoctor nor anyone ever commented. Well, once HE did, but that was just the crypic word "MWAHT!" (I have no idea what he was trying to say). The part about him "oiling his leathers" is hilarious.
Those are the big two, but if you've time, take a look at thevorlon's journal. The chuckles here are deliberate, as the mun's rather adept pokes at Vorlonity ("And so it begins. Again. Still. Whatever").
This just blows my mind.

Some brilliant stuff:
-Neroon with kids. Eye of a Cat, if I ever see you, I'll throw flowers at your feet. What a weird idea, and I want to hear more. (I made Fann Starrider with the idea that he'd be Neroon's idiot nephew or something, but this?) Now I have to find a way to RP.
-Speaking of nephews, Londo's post here gave me the same sort of warm, fuzzed feeling I imagine quality brivari would impart. It was good to see Carn not forgotten. Not to mention the rest of the post, or to be truly fair, the journal.
-And speaking of Londo, hobsonphile came up with the idea of linking Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" to Londo after Adira's death, standing in the docking bay with his starlaces. Brr.
Ah, Theatrical Muse! How I've missed you.

| Hi there |
[25 Jul 2004|05:15pm] |
|
Just a brief post to introduce myself ( eye_of_a_cat) and Neroon, who'll be located somewhere in early Season 4 (definitely before Rumors, Bargains and Lies, at any rate). He probably won't be doing much in the way of planned-out and real-time RPing, because his mun is a wimp timezones and newbieness and working out what's going on and stuff, but will certainly be RPing in comments.
So, yes. Um. Hi.

Just an out-of-character post to introduce myself. I'm playing Shall Mayan, the poet-come-hippie friend of Delenn's. I've been playing her as a complete dip, and, consequently, she's opened up a cheesy advice column on her journal. Comments will be appreciated beyond belief :) Again, nice to meet you all!

Now that I actually have some free time on my hands, I guess it's time to introduce myself. Hi! *waves madly* It's Li behind here, and I be the new mun for susanivanova. I'm about to get stuck in, so I thought I should give everyone a heads up that against my better judgement, Susan's decided to give the RP thing a go. In comments at least, for now.
Now I've never done RP before, so go easy on me, 'kay? And I'd appreciate someone helping me out with where everyone is timeline-wise and where I should be, because I'm trying to work it out and it's making my brain go all whacky!

...about the D20 Babylon 5 RPG books.
First, does anyone out there know how close to canon the information in these books is? I'm specifically thinking of the Minbari Federation sourcebook at the moment. There is an acknowledgement in the front of the book that gives "special thanks" to JMS and Fiona Avery, but nothing actually states how much input JMS had, or whether (as in the case of the trilogies) it was from his outlines, or what.
The main reason I ask is because I want to know how 'canonical' the Minbari racial background is. There are some things in their history that, quite frankly, make me believe it's a miracle the Vorlons didn't send them running into the hands of the Shadows...
If any Minbari ever managed to uncover the history mentioned in this book... Let's just say that bugsndaffy's comments about them being the "Vorlons' puppets" is NOT far from the truth. At all.
Imagine an entire race toyed with in ways that are exponentially worse than what the Vorlons did to humans, groomed to be their warriors in the galaxy. Given tools, technology, abilities, etc. Eventually, after tragedies and wars, the Vorlons decided they should tell the Minbari that they were in fact not gods, but an alien race. Who had experimented on them, and were in part responsible for the slaughter of a large part of their race.
Imagine how furious that race would be once they learned they had been used like that. Naturally, they struck back at the Vorlons, and were actually quite successful, using weapons and technology the Vorlons themselves gave to them.
And of course, the Vorlons got annoyed and retaliated, to the point of nearly committing genocide before they came to their senses.
And what did the great, benevolent, good Vorlons do then? They REMOVED the memories of what had gone before and hid the evidence, making the Minbari once again believe that they were godly beings of light.
If any modern (i.e. any time from about a thousand years before Valen to now) Minbari were to learn this... [And I'm starting to suspect that certain individuals may have been very close to uncovering some of it. It sure would explain some things...]
[Crossposted from g_shadowslayer because I'm not entirely sure all of the B5 muns actually read that journal ;)]

| The Search for Londo Mollari |
[25 May 2004|07:04pm] |
Okay, cats and kittens and T-M people.
As many of you know, Londo Mollari has been kidnapped.
Now, due to his role as hot hot lover bodyguard, G'Kar will be the one to physically find Londo after this ordeal is over. But that doesn't mean G'Kar will be the one who figures out who took Londo/why/where Londo IS.
In fact, G'Kar absolutely will NOT be that person, because G'Kar's played by me,and I already know where Londo is. And SO. I open the mystery to the T-M community at large. Spearheaded by mikegaribaldi and vir_cotto_tm, the mystery of the missing Londo commences!
Using my two muns, Delenn and G'Kar, ( _delenn and citizengkar) I will drop periodic clues that will allow the rest of you to track down and rescue Ambassador Mollari. Garibaldi and Vir will be officially in charge of the rescue operation/manhunt, but any T-M pup is welcome to join the search.
I will be posting as G'Kar shortly, at which point G'Kar will make contact with Garibaldi and the hunt will begin. Please -- B5 pups and non-B5 pups alike -- if you're interested in a good mystery, come join us! (Post here if you're interested, so I can get an idea of who's gonna be participating.)
Stay tuned for G'Kar's post....

Since the Mun makes journey to Africa from May 30th to June 18th, Londo will be unavailable. However, his mysterious absence will once again have an explanation. Only this time he does not leave on his own volition. Instead, this happens.
The G'Kar Mun will react and play this out, but anyone wanting to join in the search for the truth about what exactly happened to Londo Mollari is welcome to. Just remember, G'Kar is the one who will ultimately find him, and not before the Mun is back*g*
Originally, I was planning to wait with this post until the 29th, but I do want to see the first reactions.*g*

Full text of a post on rastb5.mod today, from JMS
Subject: Today We Lost Richard Biggs
I was awakened today with several phone calls from cast members and Doug to pass along the terrible news that this morning, Richard Biggs passed away.
We're still gathering information, so take none of this as firm word, but what seems to have happened, happened quickly. He woke up, got up out of bed...and went down. The paramedics who showed up suggested it was either an aneurysm or a massive stroke.
His family members have been informed, and all of the the cast have, as far as we can determine, also been informed.
This is a terrible loss for all of us. Richard was a consummate professional but more than that he was an honorable, stand-up guy. If he gave you his word on something, you never had to wonder about it afterward. He was always helpful and supportive of all the cast, even those who only came in for one episode, always with a ready smile and determined to do whatever it took to make the scene work. He was, quite simply, a terrific guy, and everyone here is just devastated at the news.
More word as this develops. We may try to have some kind of fund raiser to help give whatever assistance may be helpful for his kids.
We all miss him terribly.

Al would like to inform someone of the command staff of his upcoming visit to Babylon 5, but with Sheridan gone, Ivanova seemingly not doing any roleplaying, and Garibaldi currently being, ahem, occupied, he's not sure whom to call. Any takers?
If no one feels responsible, I'll just pretend that he did in fact call ahead, and was told that he is welcome to visit whenever he feels like it ;)

I've been thinking about this long and hard, longer and harder as time goes by, and I think I'm going to retire Sheridan. Actually, there's no think about it, I *am* retiring Sheridan. Much appologisings to everyone involved in Sheridan SL's, I hope we'll get a new Sheridan who can do him more justice than I did and who wasn't getting frustrated with the pup. I'm keeping his journal though, as there's a lot of funny comments and stuff on there that I want, so a new Sheridan will need a new LJ.

This is just to say that I'm going to be away for 3 weeks from Wednesday, so Vila and Kerril will be off for that time too on a mission for Blake. Just in case anyone thinks they've been abandoned (Never! How could I?) or wonders why they're not responding.
Nico (Vila and Kerril's mun) just off to the UK for a con and a holiday!

Now we're just waiting for londo_mollari to show up so there'll be one more human brain to help me out.
